Hezekiah Walker
Bishop Hezekiah Walker is a Grammy Award-winning gospel music artist, founder and leader of the Love Fellowship Choir, and Pastor and Bishop of the Love Fellowship Tabernacle, with locations in Brooklyn, New York, and Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
Bishop Walker catapulted into recognition in 1985 for his singing ability with the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir. It was his travels with the Crusade Choir that enabled him to reach people from all walks of life who he had never encountered while growing up in the Fort Greene public housing community in New York City.
He has amassed such a rapport with worshippers and performance ensembles that his rousing, heartfelt compositions have become synonymous with Sunday morning.
Walker’s love of gospel music began when he was barely 8 years old and continues today.
Walker’s best-selling releases have won many awards and have made appearances on Billboard’s gospel charts, including 1994’s Live in Atlanta at Morehouse College and 2001’s Love Is Live!, both of which snagged GRAMMY® trophies for Best Gospel Album by Choir or Chorus.
SOULED OUT, Walker’s 13th and latest recording, continued to advance his calling to keep alive the choir tradition. The title track of this album, Souled Out, landed a #1 position on the R&R Gospel Charts.
Walker attended Long Island University, majoring in Sociology. He also attended Hugee Theological Seminary, and the New York School of the Bible. Currently, he is attending the Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, PA.
In 2003, Walker wrote his first book, titled “Destiny: Dream It, Declare It, Do It,” published by Whitaker House.
Bishop Walker is also the host of his own radio show, Afternoon Praise, which airs on the only 24-hour gospel station in New York City, radio station 1190 WLIB.
In June 2011, Bishop Walker will become the Presiding Prelate of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
